Family Fun Day – Sunday April 9

We invite you to Family Fun Day this Sunday April 9 starting about 12:00 noon. Okay – might start around 11:45 a.m. On the “front property” of University Baptist Church. Inflatables (?!?), petting zoo, games, egg toss (?!?), egg hunts, hot dog lunch, and more. Fun for all ages, especially for children.

(We are not sure the information is completely accurate. Worship usually begins 10:30. Family Fun Day should start around 12:00 noon. We will try to check and confirm.)

Movie Night! Friday December 30

Church of the Nations is planning on movie night this Friday December 30 starting at 6:30 p.m. (Please note this is earlier than when we usually start Movie Night. This is so that younger children can come.) We will turn the chapel into a giant movie theater! Free drinks, snacks, and delicious popcorn. This activity is free! Families and children are welcome.

For legal reasons we cannot say on our website what movie we will show.
(Because of license and advertising law. It is difficult to explain.) If you ask us we can tell you. It will be a movie that is good for children and adults.)

We do not think we can pick up people with the church bus. If we can pick up people and you need a ride… you must email us by Friday 12:00 noon so someone can meet you at one of the “bus stops” on this list. We no longer go to every stop on this list. It will help if you know someone who can give you a ride. It is usually not a problem to take people home. If you need a ride… the time will be *60 minutes earlier* than the time for English Conversation. Simple. See our English Conversation schedule. One hour earlier.

There will be a buffet dinner so people do not need to eat dinner before they come. We will also sing Christmas songs and carols.

We need time to change the route plan how to pick you up.*

Super science Saturday! this Saturday October 29

This is not a Church of the Nations activity. We want to let you know about fun and interesting activities in and around Baton Rouge. Especially anything that has to do with science.

Super Science Saturday at Louisiana State University this Saturday at the PMAC ( = Pete Maravich Assembly Center) upper level

Super Science Saturday (SSS) is a free Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education event for students in kindergarten to 12th grade, parents, and anyone interested in seeing science in action.  SSS is sponsored by LSU Chemistry, the Baton Rouge local section of the American Chemical Society (ACS), and LSU Athletics.

SSS is held each Fall, usually around National Chemistry Week.  This year there will be 19 stations with hands-on demonstrations and activities to engage students and adults alike.  Each K-12 student that attends is given a Passport at the check-in area that has blocks for all the activity stations.  When the student visits the station and participates in the activities the Passport is stamped.  After visiting all the activity stations located around the concourse level of the PMAC they will receive some small gifts at the check-out area.  Many regional K-12 teachers give students with a fully-stamped Passport some bonus points for attending and learning some science – so hang on to those Passports if that is the case. …

The event is free, but we are collecting non-perishable food items (and/or monetary donations) for the Baton Rouge Food Bank.

The organizer of the event is Dr. Andrew Maverick (LSU Chemistry, phone: 225-578-4415, E-mail:  Please contact him for more information or questions about Super Science Saturday.

Fall Festival – this Friday October 30

This Sunday afternoon we invite you and your families to Fall Festival. Sunday October 30 from 12:00 to 2:00(?) p.m. on the “front property” (Highland Road side) of University Baptist Church. Inflatables, games, petting zoo (!), food and fun for adults and especially for children. There is also a lunch fundraiser.  People who participate in Church of the Nations can donate money for each lunch – you do not have to. What is most important is that you come with your family and enjoy lunch and games.
