About Us

What is Church of the Nations?

Church of the Nations family

Church of the Nations is the international ministry of University Baptist Church. We are a church family for all people that also focuses on international students and scholars and their families. It is a place for you to:

  • make new friends
  • practice English
  • experience American culture with friendly people

Church of the Nations also invites you to learn about the love of God seen in Jesus Christ, but it does not pressure you to change your religion.

Church of the Nations is part of the Baptist tradition of the Christian movement—but we welcome and are open to people of every background.

What happens at Church of the Nations?

Welcome Picnic for Internationals

There are many things we do together.

  • On Sunday mornings we have worship services in which we sing, read from the Bible, pray for each other, and hear a short message from the pastor. We use simple English.
  • On Friday nights we have Conversational English in American homes, where we have snacks and drinks, friendly people, opportunities to practice English.
  • Several times each year we take short trips to interesting places near Baton Rouge. A few times each year we have a short retreat to rest and to learn more about God and our relationships with him. Sometimes we do other fun things such as visit in American homes.
  • And always we help meet the different needs of internationals. We sometimes help with furniture, with transportation to the doctor and government offices, and with making a new home in Baton Rouge.
